How it works
Choose a photo and set the new size by percentage, width, height or a box it must fit inside — the aspect ratio is always kept. Pick JPG, PNG or WebP and a quality level, compare the file size before and after, and download the result. The image is processed on your device and never uploaded.
New height = original height × (new width ÷ original width)
Which format to choose
- JPG: photos; the smallest files at quality 75–85.
- PNG: screenshots, logos and images that need sharp edges or transparency.
- WebP: smaller than JPG at similar quality and supports transparency; supported by modern browsers.
Tips
- For email and messengers, 1600 px on the long side is usually plenty.
- Quality is used for JPG and WebP; PNG is always lossless.
- Photo metadata such as location (EXIF) is not copied into the resized file.
Standards and sources
- Resizing and encoding use your browser's built-in Canvas image encoders (JPEG, PNG, WebP)

Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Resizing happens in your browser on your own device, so private photos never leave it.
How do I make a photo smaller in file size?
Lower the size or scale, choose JPG or WebP and set the quality around 75–85%. The before and after sizes are shown.
Will the image be stretched?
No. The aspect ratio is always kept; "Fit inside a box" shrinks the image until both sides fit.
Is location data removed?
Yes. The resized file is newly encoded, so EXIF metadata such as GPS location is not included.
Why is my PNG bigger after resizing?
PNG is lossless, so photos saved as PNG can be large. Choose JPG or WebP for photographs.
