How it works

Tap "Scan with camera" and hold the code inside the frame — it is read automatically and the camera stops. You can also pick a photo or screenshot, or paste an image. Links get an open button, Wi-Fi codes show the network name and password, and every result can be copied. Camera frames are analyzed on your device and never uploaded.

Supported codes

  • 2D codes: QR Code, Data Matrix, Aztec and PDF417.
  • Retail barcodes: EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and UPC-E.
  • Industrial barcodes: Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, ITF and Codabar.

Stay safe with QR codes

  • Check the web address before opening it — fake QR stickers are used for phishing.
  • Be careful with links that ask for logins, payments or app downloads.
  • If a code on a poster or parking meter looks like a sticker placed on top, don't trust it.
  • On some browsers the reader library is loaded from unpkg.com the first time you scan.

Standards and sources

  • QR Code follows ISO/IEC 18004; EAN and UPC barcodes follow GS1 General Specifications
  • Uses the browser's built-in Barcode Detection API where available, otherwise the open-source ZXing library (Apache License 2.0)

Frequently asked questions

How do I scan a QR code from a screenshot?

Choose the image with "Or read from an image", or copy it and paste with Ctrl+V. The code is read straight from the picture.

Why can't the camera start?

The browser needs your permission to use the camera, and the page must be open over HTTPS. If you blocked access, allow it in the site settings, or read an image instead.

Which barcodes can it read?

QR Code, Data Matrix, Aztec, PDF417, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, ITF and Codabar.

Are camera images uploaded?

No. Frames are analyzed in your browser and are never sent anywhere. On some browsers only the open-source reader library is downloaded from unpkg.com.

Is it safe to open the link in a QR code?

Check the address first. Fake QR stickers are a common phishing trick, so be careful with links that ask you to log in or pay.
