How this explorer works
Choose a country to see its capital, region and income group, plus the latest World Bank values for population, GDP, GDP per capita, life expectancy and internet use.
The data is fetched live from the World Bank API. Each value keeps the year the World Bank reports, so different indicators may use different years.
Reading the numbers
- GDP is the total output of an economy; GDP per capita divides it by population.
- Values are in current US dollars, not adjusted for purchasing power.
- Small states and territories may have missing indicators.

Frequently asked questions
Where does the data come from?
Country metadata and indicators come from the World Bank Open Data API. The year beside each value is the latest available, not always the current year.
Why are some values blank?
The World Bank may not publish that indicator for the country or year shown. A dash means unavailable, not zero.
Is GDP per capita adjusted for prices?
No. GDP and GDP per capita are in current US dollars, not purchasing-power parity.
