How it works
- Press play to animate the economies with the highest GDP per person from 1960 to 2023. Bars resort every year with smooth animation.
- Drag the year slider to freeze any moment, or change how many countries are shown.
- The full data table ships with the page, so the ranking works even offline.
Good to know
- Values are nominal GDP per person in current US dollars, not adjusted for prices or inflation.
- Territories the World Bank reports separately, such as Bermuda or Macao, are included.
- Nothing is stored or sent anywhere.

Frequently asked questions
Where do the numbers come from?
GDP per capita in current US dollars from the World Bank indicator NY.GDP.PCAP.CD, built into the page for the years 1960 to 2023.
Why are small places at the top?
Small economies with large financial or tourism sectors, such as Monaco, Liechtenstein or Bermuda, produce a lot per resident. The World Bank publishes territories alongside countries, so they appear too.
Is this the same as average income?
No. It divides total economic output by population, so it is not what a typical person earns or takes home.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The full table ships with the page, so the race and the year slider work without a network.
