How it works
Pick a standard rate or type your own, then add VAT to a net amount or remove it from a gross amount. The net, tax and gross are always shown together.
Gross = net × (1 + rate ÷ 100)

Frequently asked questions
How do I add VAT?
Multiply the net amount by (1 + rate ÷ 100). A net amount of 100 at 20% becomes 120 gross, with 20 VAT.
How do I remove VAT?
Divide the gross amount by (1 + rate ÷ 100). From 120 gross at 20%, the net is 100 and the VAT is 20.
What rate should I use?
Use the standard rate that applies to your sale. Rates change over time and some goods are reduced or zero-rated, so check the current official rate.
