How it works
The live bitcoin price (BTC) is loaded in US dollars and converted into your currency with the latest reference exchange rate. Enter an amount to value your holding, and the table shows small fractions down to satoshis.
The price updates every minute while the page is open. The history chart uses closing prices from the Kraken exchange (or Coinbase Exchange as a fallback), converted with the exchange rate of each day. Bitcoin trades around the clock, so there is no daily close in the stock market sense.
Tips
- One bitcoin is 100,000,000 satoshis (sats), so you never need to buy a whole coin.
- Exchanges and apps add spreads and fees, so the price you pay is usually a little above the reference price.
- Prices can move more than 10% in a day; never invest money you cannot afford to lose.
About these prices
These are reference spot prices, not dealer buy or sell quotes. Coins, bars and jewellery sell above spot (premium), dealers buy back below it, and VAT, GST or other taxes may apply depending on the country. Exchange rates are reference rates, not your bank or card rate. Nothing here is investment advice.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my exchange show a slightly different price?

What is a satoshi?
The smallest unit of bitcoin: 0.00000001 BTC. The table shows what 1,000 sats are worth.
Where does the chart data come from?
Closing prices of BTC/USD from Kraken’s public market data API, with Coinbase Exchange as a fallback, converted to your currency with daily ECB reference rates.
