How it works
The live price of ether (ETH), the currency of the Ethereum network, is loaded in US dollars and converted into your currency with the latest reference exchange rate. Enter an amount to value your holding.
The price updates every minute while the page is open. The history chart uses closing prices from the Kraken exchange (or Coinbase Exchange as a fallback), converted with the exchange rate of each day.
Tips
- 1 ETH is 1,000,000,000 gwei; network fees (gas) are quoted in gwei.
- Exchanges and apps add spreads and fees, so the price you pay is usually a little above the reference price.
- Staked or wrapped ether (such as stETH or WETH) usually tracks ETH but can trade at a small discount or premium.
About these prices
These are reference spot prices, not dealer buy or sell quotes. Coins, bars and jewellery sell above spot (premium), dealers buy back below it, and VAT, GST or other taxes may apply depending on the country. Exchange rates are reference rates, not your bank or card rate. Nothing here is investment advice.

Frequently asked questions
Is Ethereum the same as ether?
Ethereum is the network; ether (ETH) is its native currency, used to pay transaction fees and for staking.
Why does my exchange show a slightly different price?
Each exchange has its own order book, and prices in local currency can trade at a premium or discount to the US dollar price. Spreads and fees also differ.
Where does the chart data come from?
Closing prices of ETH/USD from Kraken’s public market data API, with Coinbase Exchange as a fallback, converted to your currency with daily ECB reference rates.
