How the split is calculated
Per person = (bill + tip) ÷ people → rounded up to the chosen unit
For example, splitting ₩58,000 among 3 people comes to exactly ₩19,333.33… each. Rounded up to the nearest ₩100, each person pays ₩19,400 and ₩58,200 is collected, so the person who paid gets ₩200 extra. Rounding down would leave the payer short, so this calculator always rounds up.
Tipping by country
- Korea and Japan: Tipping at restaurants is rare.
- US and Canada: At sit-down restaurants with table service, people usually tip 15–20% of the pre-tax amount.
- Europe: It varies by country and venue. First check whether a service charge is already included on the receipt.
Tipping customs vary by region and venue, so treat this as a rough guide.
Tips for settling up
- Sharing the amount right after paying means fewer missed payments. Use the copy button to paste the summary as is.
- If people owe different amounts, such as when only some shared the drinks, run the calculator once for each part and add them up.

Frequently asked questions
What if the bill doesn't divide evenly?
Each share is rounded up to the unit you choose (for example, ₩100). So the total collected is slightly more than the bill, and the extra goes to whoever paid.
How is the tip added?
The tip percentage is applied to the bill, added on top, and the total is then divided by the number of people. Where tips are based on the pre-tax amount, as in US restaurants, enter the pre-tax amount to check the tip.
Can I calculate in dollars or yen?
Yes. When you change the currency, the decimal places and rounding units switch to match it.
